Re: Crossing loop design (r.e. Southern Aurora crash)

<<<<<<<Had often wondered about when we depart Werribee Plat 1 (back platform
road) on
a bottom light. Drivers tell me the deal there is that once the last vehicle
clears the points (at medium speed), the train may then proceed at line speed.
Is this the case as well on CTC territory? (ie, is that what you're explaining
above)>>>>>>>>

Yes I was talking about on CTC, Newport to Geelong BG is still ATC isn't it? I
seem to remember some confusion that the rule was not modified for ATC nor
LL&TC. My memory is deserting me here, anyone care to help? I knew I should
have brought my Rules and Reg's and General Appendix when I moved to the US but
my wife wouldn't let me! I recall travelling at medium speed on an up spark
departing the back platform at Werribee until I got to the next home signal
near the cemetery.

<<<<<<<And another query r.e. NSW loops (which started this monstrous thread),
are
there also slips in the main line at loops, to derail a train on the main which
overshoots and the points/sigs are against him?>>>>>>>

I can't speak for the rest of NSW but if I recall correctly there are no
mainline slips/catch points, they are only present in the crossing loop track,
(no. 2 road) between Albury and Junee. I'm sure Krel or Rod will correct me if
I'm wrong.

Mark.
