He means the corners of Queen and George, Queen and Albert and Queen and
Edward.

There were certainly more lights than that in the last years of the
trams. I just perused my copy of Brisbane Trams - The Last Decade and
there are a lot more traffic lights in view, in Adelaide Street, in Grey
Street, in Bowen Bridge Road and elsewhere. 

But I take his point, there were not many lights then and it was a lot
easier to get about.
