Re: hebburn collieries locomotive puzzle

The Hebburn Loco No.4 was apperently latter renumbered No.1. It carried
Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn Limited builder's No.E7841 and was built in
1955.
The cylinder problems supposedly date from around the 1967 period when the
loco was put aside. It was replaced at first by J & A Brown No.26 (ex NSWGR
2013) and later by ex NSWGR 3013. No.26, No.1 and the remains of ex NSWGR
2020 & 2017 (which were Hebburn's motive power prior to the Stephenson
engine) were cut up for scrap in 1970.

Further information etc on this loco can be found on page 112 of Gifford
Eardley's 'The Railways of the South Maitland Coalfields.'
