An early version of this device was used on the North
Australian Railway in the sixties after it was upgraded
for the Iron Ore traffic. They were used on the track
from the Darwin Yards up to and beyond the two & half
mile workshops (Parap), they were mainly used to
trigger level crossing warning devices.

I managed to get some colour & BW photos of the devices
which were located on the inside of the rail, also some
shots of the small single colour "searchlight" signals
for the trains before the whole lot was torn up.
