 The DPU devices are now quite common in the inner Sydney area, ie Sydenham,
ESR, and the City circle. The primary purpose of introducing these devices is to
shorten the length of a track circuit without going to all the expense of
installing extra track circuits. Especially where there is a  need for close
running of trains, ie the ESR line, and city circle line.
