Oh dear.
Presumably they'll be like a thin version of an ATM card.

I hope that sometime soon, somebody realises what an unmitigated
disaster Metcard has been and abandons it. Tinkering isn't going to cut
it. The system has such a bad name that its not worth trying to rescue
it.

Pity about the $330m plus of taxpayer funds poured into it. how many
conductors and station staff would that have paid for? How many of the
fool proof paper tickets?
