Re: Return of Its Academic!

Ok, time to summarise the results so far:

There are two questions which nobody's got yet:

>
> Q7. Marinna, Kundabung, Ivanhoe, Kiata
>
> Q9. Olympic Park, Brighton, Glanville.
>
Perhaps clues are in order:
In Q7, the Ivanhoe is in NSW (not Vic).
In Q9 the linking property still exists to this day at Olympic Park and
Brighton, but has not applied to Glanville for about 20 years.

The other have all been answered correctly as follows:

>
> Q1. Perth, Commercial Road (Port Adelaide), Winton, Mareeba, Normanton,
> Ballarat, Geelong.

They all have an 'all-over' roof (even though Mareeba and Commercial Road have
lost theirs).

> Q2. Emerald (Qld), Newcastle, Pakenham, Armadale (WA), Glenelg.
>

They are the furthest location in each State to which you can today travel by
electric passenger train from the State capital.

> Q3. Sydney Central, Melbourne Central, Wynyard, Town Hall, Redfern, Parliament,
> Flagstaff, Wolli Creek, East Camberwell.
>

They all have/had/will have platforms on more than one level.

> Q4. Junee, Lithgow, Geelong, Gawler, Kangaroo Flat, Garfield, Tallarook,
> Burwood (Vic), Toodyay

These stations are the furthest locations on their respective lines to which you
can today travel by regular passenger train service from the State capital
without traversing single track.

>
> Q5. Princes Bridge, Redfern, South Brisbane, Hobart, St James.
>

These are all former passenger terminals for State capital cities.

> Q6. Fremantle, Tailem Bend, Circular Quay, Meadowbank, Cronulla, Hawkesbury
> River, Flinders Street, Stony Point, Queenscliff, Cleveland, Cairns, Townsville.

Train to ferry connections can be made at these locations.

> Q8. Sydney Central, Spencer Street, Perth, South Geelong, Grange, Richmond
> (Vic), Park Road, Subiaco, Royal Park.
>

These are all railheads for AFL football grounds. (I could have added Glen
Waverley, Nunawading, Clayton and Victoria Park until this year).

> Q10. Uranquinty, Bendigo, Port Melbourne, Egelabra

All these stations have been renamed, and their former names all start with
"Sand" viz Sandy Creek, Sandhurst, Sandridge, Sandy Creek (again).
