That's probably a reasonable conclusion from the circumstantial
evidence available so far.

Based on this, if I had to guess a speed, I'd think it would be more
like something in the 20 to 30 kpH range, given the often estimated
100 metres visibility.

This may well still be excessive in the circumstances but non the less
is a lot less than 50 kph being bandied about.
