Within 3 days of FV forking over $136 million for VLF, the Vic Gov
announced expenditure of $536 MILLION to upgrade roads and freeways to
"improve the competitiveness of trucks in regional haulage".
Expenditure on rail was a new platform at Flinders Street station (ca.
$10 million).

Bridges will be upgraded by the Fed Gov to enable "road friendly"
trucks to get heavier, but they baulk on spending the $$ on rail
improvements that every commission and enquiry and committee has told
them to.
