You're right, Chris, it is Snowdon, the only rack railway operating in
Britain. I rode on this railway many years ago, a very expensive but
enjoyable journey. The trains now also have some diesel engines. Though
the railway now operates very safely with a single passenger car to each
locomotive, soon after its opening an engine coming down the mountain with
two passenger cars derailed, dragging the cars with it, fatalities
resulting. Now only single cars are used, and these are not coupled to the
locos as was done initially. The railway is all on a grade, but near the
bottom the grade is not as steep and it was a very unusual ride as the
passenger coach continually bumped against the loco on this section.
