Only for overnight travel.

You are comparing a discounted airfare with a full rail fare. The full adult
first class fare from Sydney to Wagga Wagga is indeed expensive - $100 - but
you can get the 50% discounted fares at off peak times, bringing it down to
$50, and if you book early enough, you can get the 10%, 20% 30% or 40%
discounted fares.
