Fast Ferries to Compete with Trains

Today's Sydney Morning Herald carries the news about fast ferries to be
built which will compete with trains between Gosford/Woy Woy and Sydney.
The proposal is to build three fast ferries which will operate Gosford to
Sydney on an hourly service with a journey time of 75 minutes, and another
single ferry which will operate from Ettalong to Sydney in 40 minutes.

The Gosford service will offer reserved seats, a hot breakfast will be
available on board.

Journey times look a little optimistic to me. As an ex boatie who navigated
through Broken Bay and into Brisbane Water on many occasions, it used to
take about 20 minutes or so just going through the Rip area which has an 8
knot limit!
