300 passengers is only an indicative figure, the actual capacity would
depend on the number of carriages.  A six car tilt train with economy &
first class + buffet could carry 300 people.  A supplement to use a faster
service may be necessary - thats for transport planners & marketing people
to determine.  However each tilt train set should be able to do 3 return
runs per day to Newcastle - thats a lot more than a V - set.  So there is
more potential productivity from a faster train.  The same principle can be
seen in the airline industry where turboprops are being replaced by jet
aircraft in the regional market.  The jets cost more but they can do a lot
more with them in a day.
