New CityRail rolling stock

In the August Railway Digest, there is a news item stating the Government is
funding $4 million to commence construction of the 81 Millenium EMUs.

$4 million is not going to buy many carriages. Wasn't it $2 million per
Tangara carriage?

It looks like they are planning to build a spare car, which is forward
thinking for a change!

The article also adds that a feasibility study will be undertaken for the
next generation of intercity trains for the Sydney to Central coast rought.

It will be interesting to see if they can improve on the V sets now in
service.
