CityRail Fare Refunds

Interesting snippet from Sydney Morning Herald's column 8 this morning.

2 schoolgirls bought $1 tickets at Woolooware on their way to school at
Cronulla. After selling them their tickets, the station attendant announced
on the PA system that their train had been cancelled. They had to walk to
get to school on time. Their father, aware that tickets were only valid for
the date of issue, was advised by CityRail, that a refund could be issued.
Application fee $4. Who is worse, CityRail or the banks? Will CityRail pay
John Laws $1.2 million to boost their reputation in the community?
