NSWGR 38 Class smokebox colours

Just some questions about Green 38 Class locos.

The "38" book saids that 3806-3810 were painted in green with blacksmoke
box, while 3811-3830 were outshopped with green smokeboxes, although
some were later repainted green with blacksmoke boxes during overhaul.

What year did NSWGR start to paint the 38's in black with red lining?

Does anyone know if 3827 was ever painted green with a blacksmoke box?
