Running LRVs on the railway reservation could be faster than 'heavier'
trains, due to their (usually) better acceleration and deceleration
capabilities. It would of course depend upon resisting the temptation to
spend the time saved on adding too many extra stops to the line, and the
retention of a decent signalling system. In effect it would still be a
suburban railway, but with smaller trains that have the benefit of street
running capabilities.
