Sorry about the late reply on this one. There was only one 620 set (2 cars)
damaged in a buffer stop accident in Newcastle during March. This was
638/738. This set has now been withdrawn as the bogie castings moved on the
underframe and it is beyond economic repair. The running gear is to be
transfered to 631/731 that had been stripped ready for sale and this set is
likley to be the next to be repainted. The second accident in Newcastle was
an interurban that ran into the buffer stops. I had a look at the second set
(628/728) in the paint shop at Chullora on Tuesday and was surprised to see
the blue seats are not reupholstered but just painted over the old material.
