I am about to look at the posted version of the coroner's report.
Adding to David J's points about the articulated design, QR diesels of the
1150 & 1170 classes were also articulated. While they were not used at the
speeds of a 46, they did run on tightly-curved lines. Were they prone to
derailment? Were they notoriously rough? Was the bogie-coupling system
the same as the one used on a 46? Could they lock up if assembled with
poor tolerances?
