Batman - Upfield Signalling Changes

Commencing from 2000 on Friday 13.11.98 to 0400 on Monday 16.11.98,
the following signalling  and Infrastructure alterations will be made
between Batman and Upfield:

*  The Double Line Block Telegraph System of Signalling between
    Batman and  Fawkner will be abolished.

* The Train Staff and Ticket System of Signalling between Fawkner and 
    Upfield will be abolished.

* The Automatic and Track Control System of Signalling between Gowrie 
    and Upfield will be commissioned.

* The new portion of line between Fawkner and Gowrie will be 
   commissioned.  The section from Fawkner to Gowrie will be double 
   line.

* Fawkner signal box will be de-commissioned.

* For an interim period Batman signal box will remain for the 
  operation of interlocked gates at Gaffney Street level crossing.  
  The level crossing will continue to be protected by Home Signals.

* Batman Down Starting Signal Post No. 56 will be abolished.

* Batman Up Home Signal Post No. 57 will be abolished.
