There is an automatic railway between terminal 1 and terminal 2 at Changi
(Singapore) which would appear to be a similar concept.

I can not recall whether it is steel wheel / steel rail or rubber
tyres on some sort of guideway. I only had a couple of hours to change
planes in Changi last time I was there and two hours goes very quickly
because the place is huge. It was also early evening and was dark
outside.

They are summoned as a lift is summoned and by very similar buttons.

There are two in operation - one land-side and one air-side.
