Mark, as I stated in another post, I am in favour of two-man crews. I just
believe that the unions will do themselves any good by using furphys as
justification for it.

EWS in England is close to making a profit - a huge turnaround since
Wisconsin bought the three British Rail companies - and Ed Burkhardt reckons
that after the 280 new locos he has on order are in operation, and the old
ones are gone, and with the projected increase in traffic, they WILL be
making a profit in 2-3 years. All of this was done with one-man crews.

You will have to come up with better arguments for two-man crewing than 1. A
Wisconsin court ruled there must be two men in a locomotive; and 2. worlds
best practice is required in our industrial relations environment.

And there are better arguments out there - that is why I am in favour of
two-man (and in some cases, three-man) crews.
