The ICE units were built as tw-car units, with a drivers cab at one end
only. There are also intermediate non-driving trailers. The idea was that
the minimum train would be four-cars (2 x two-car units, back to back) with
the ability to place a few trailers in the middle to boost the train if
necessary!
