Re: 3830 is Alive and Well

On the trip to Bundanoon 3830 was refuged at Picton to allow the down
XPT to pass - departure out of Picton was spectacular and showed just
what the loco is capable of. I have to say that the sound of the 38
blasting up Exeter bank is the first time I've heard a 38 really hard
at work at speed that matches up with my memories of 38s before they
were withdrawn from regular sevice - it was "music to the ears". The
departure from Bundanoon in the afternoon and the climb back up to
Exeter made for some spectacular video. I think the crew for this trip
really knew wht they were doing.
