Re: Boronia Rail Crossing

As I posted last week Boronia (Melbourne) Rail Crossing was closing on Friday
(30/10) and the new tunnel and station being connected over the Cup Day weekend

I went down yesterday to have a look what they were doing, there were about 100
people watching the work being done.

So far they had remo0ved all the old section of railway (600 metres) and started
doing earthworks on that section, while they were removing dirt for the cutting
for the new line. They had about 10 of the big thingy with buckets removing
dirt into about 30 trucks that were just moving along like a production line.

They were also fixing one of the overhead poles that was put in with a 'twist'
to it. They have already installed the ATM and validators on the Saturday, and
were testing the PID's and signals (just the two).

They already have most of the down line in position (before Friday) and were
connecting the ends to the rest on the line, the Up line tracks are sitting on
the down line alond with the overhead for the up line (with the installed down
line overhead) So once the dirt has been removed the sleepers will be layied
and the track and overhead for the Up line just moved arcoss and connected at
each end. It is planned that it will be finished by 4:50am Wednesday morning.

There are working 24hrs a day, and if you could get down there to have a look,
it is worth while.

(Sorry about remo0ver above, it should read removed.)
