My few rides on the Melbourne-Sydney XPT have been rather rocky too so its
not just Brisbane. I just assumed it was the track. Having said that, I
quite enjoyed the rocking motion during the day (although I was less
appreciative on the night train) however I tend to enjoy wild roller coaster
rides too so perhaps I am not the best representative of the general public
in reference to the ride quality. I would describe it more like a mechanical
bull on valium - it didn't quite have the frenetic jumpiness of the bull but
the motion is similar.
    With reference to the news article, I doubt the refurbishment will do
much unless they upgrade the kitchen to serve more than the 4 standard meals
and do some track straightening and flattening.
