Oldest NSW loco back on track

Last Sunday steam loco 1210, built in 1878 and the second oldest working
engine in Australia, returned to service for a members' day for the ARHS
(ACT Division).

The engine was damaged in a derailment four years ago at Queanbeyan, and
since then has required repairs to springing and a cracked axle box.

The ARHS has also overhauled a set of four end-platform cars to be hauled
by this loco and 3016. The cars have now been inspected and accredited for
local running, but are yet to be fitted with platform gates which is a
requirement before they can be used for passenger traffic.
