Hmm, take note - moving away from an integrated SYSTEM (whether it be
toward a SERVICE or otherwise) removes the flexibility to do sensible
things - and this is so that the physical network fits into the
accountant's model of the world. I would have thought that the
accountant's model should reflect the reality, rather than the other way
around. Nobody who uses the system/service gives a stuff about how revenue
is shared around amongst owners - but if sensible service improvements are
stopped because they bugger up the accounting borders then something's
crook.

IIRC there was a proposal about four years ago to through-route the 75s
with the 30s

In any case, does anyone know what the funding in last week's State budget
for the reconstruction of the Elizabeth Street terminus is for? They
re-built this thing only a couple of years ago? Is it to link Elizabeth
Street tracks with Flinders Street tracks? (For those who are unfamiliar
with it - the Elizabeth St tram tracks terminate about 20m short of the
Flinders St tracks - and there is no connection - how dumb is that!) If
so then I approve because this would enable Elizabeth Street to become a
real thoroughfare with Southbound trams picking up passengers for
destinations South (Casino and elsewhere).
