Re: Three-letter codes



Adding to my earlier post,
A lot of Victorian codes have Xs in them
BXT Ballarat
GEX Geelong

The system is used for passenger booking, and so distinguishes between
Adelaide Keswick GSR terminal (ADL) and Adelaide central bus station (ADC).

This certainly is like the airline system.  When the pretentiously-named
Melbourne International Airport was opened, it got MEL (the name was
simplified to Melbourne Airport within the last two years; it has *never*
been Tullamarine Airport).  Essendon Airport got MEB.
