The locomotive, apparently. Are the diesel generator sets in the power
car turbocharged? I can conceive of worse ideas, in terms of emissions
and noise levels.

I was under the impression it was another batch of 2100's, but I could
be wrong - I can never keep up to date with QR renumbering. My chum was
under the impression that it had somehow been remanufactured.

As I recall, a 2100 is mechanically equivalent to an anorexic 422.
