It is indeed correct. It was an experimental colour scheme of the late
60s - early 70s, and applied only to two 44 class locos. The other 44
was 4457, a picture of which appears on Page 25 of John Sargent's new
book "Rail Scene New South Wales - NSWGR Diesel Electrics "the Tuscan
Generation". Actually, it's quite attractive!
