A bit more Railway history disappears.

Folks who may be familiar with the Alice Springs rail
yards might be interested to know that Alice's "Railway
Town" has finally disappeared under dirt fill and bull
dozers in the name of progress.

The streets, McDonald, McKellar, Colson, Timms and
Morris took their names from people associated with the
Commonwealths Oodnadatta extension of the old SAR's
Great Northern Railway. The Commonwealth Railways
constructed rows of elevated timber homes as per the
type used on the Trans Australian Railway.
An "Industrial" estate will be built on the site.

The CR/ANR/AN Railways Institute at the top end of
Railway Tce has recently been heavily modified into a
Japanese Car Dealership.!

Cheers
