Because they are pieces of crap that urgently need an upgrade (for the first
time since 1955).  Fixing the seats is a great idea, because about half of them
can't be moved anyway due to vandalism or general failure.  The brakes on them
are abysmal.  The doors jam in the open position all the time, and they are too
wide to go to Newcastle/Thirroul.
