Metcard can't even count how many people catch a tram, So I don't
think they will be able to know where you go.  If they did it is only
a number anyway, I don't think there is any link between your name and
the ticket.

I believe it is about 15cm max, any will work not direct, so you
should be able to leave it in your wallet, and be within the
distance and it would work.

When Metcard can count, then maybe I will be worried about them
knowing where I go, but until then, I don't hold much hope of them
knowing.
