By way of background:
They had Quinces Buses at Cranbourne station today as I was driving
back home this morning. I didn't check on my back way to work. (I
thought that a train had broken down/pulled down the wires)

Both Merinda Park and Cranbourne stations are unstaffed (nothing
unusual there) "perspex and some painted fibro will do" type affiars.
Every repair effort has failed to last until the first train in the
morning. Numerous seats and windows can be seen most mornings between
Cranbourne and Merinda Park.

There are no trains on a Monday to Thursday night (after 7-ish)
between Cranbourne and Dandenong (special event trains excepted.)

I have no idea about the specifics on this incident.
