Re: Changes in Melbourne

For completeness sake:
According to 16/2/97 t/t Amended June 97
Mon to Fri evenings from 18.30 on:
18:33 Belgrave exp Rich-Glenf-Camb.
18:48 Lilydale exp Rich-Glenf-Camb.
19:05 Belgrave exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Lilydale
19:20 Ringwood exp East Richmond.
19:35 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
19:50 Ringwood exp East Richmond.
20:05 Belgrave exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Lilydale
20:35 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
21:05 Belgrave exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Lilydale
21:35 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
etc to 00:05 Belgrave.

Sat night
18:49 Belgrave exp East Richmond.
19:09 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
19:35 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
20:05 Belgrave exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Lilydale
20:35 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
etc as for weeknight.

Sunday
7:34 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
then every 30 minutes as above to 18:34 Lilydale then
19:22 Lilydale exp East Richmond. Connecting train to Belgrave
then every 40 minutes to 22:42 Lilydale then 23:30 Lilydale

Up trains:
M-F nights: same alternating pattern
Sat nights: as for weeknights
Sun: As Mick points out, throughs are from Belgrave, connections are
from Lilydale.

Can anyone answer my original question of:
Why doesn't the Met consistently route the through trains at these times
to one or the other destination and have the connecting train run to the
other? It must be quite inconvenient having to remember a non-clockface
timetable (26 then 34mins). Is there a logical reason or is this 'the
way it's always been done'?
