Not only that, they laid 50 miles (80.5 Kms) of steel
sleepers that were triple gauge.!  
Problem was, most were on the Millicent section, :-(
perhaps somebody back then had a dream of a standard
gauge track up through the Coorong to Tailem Bend.

Yep, the State that had absolute fits whenever standard
gauge was mentioned, actually laid sleepers in the
fifties that could take SG.
