I know that a company called Terravision, based in Perth, have
installed a computer based GPS system at one or more sugar mills in
QLD. It uses GPS to track the location of the trains and sounds (very
loud) warning signals if there is a danger of collision.

The same company provides the system which monitors the city circle
buses in Perth, automatically showing at each bus stop how many
minutes before the next bus arrives. This too uses GPS technology for
determining the position of the buses.
