The traditionally signalled LUL lines, still the majority, have no in
cab signalling, the driver has to follow the lineside signals which
are basic 2 aspect Stop at Red, go on Green. there is a tripcock type
trainstop (similar to NSW) at each signal. ther is always full braking
distance available beyond a red to bring a tripped train to a stand.

Resignalled lines have more complex systems with automatic driving,
each such line being different, these are The Victoria Line, The
Central line and soon the Jubilee line. On these lines lineside
signals are minimal and in cab signals are provided for manual driving
mode.
