These are the only ones I have been able to easily find. I have not
been able to confirm those posted by Stephen Campbell, but that does
not mean they are wrong - just not reported in the souces I checked.

14 Nov 1980 - first loop handed over to government.
Saturday 24 January 1981 - two loops - Burnley and Caulfield opened.
Others to follow in two to three years.
Saturday 22 January 1983 - Parliament Station opened with no fan fare.
(Was to have been opened previous Easter but delayed because of
industrial problems(BLF). First train to actually use it was a
parliamentary special to Flemington Races on Cup Day 1982.
14 November 1984 Northern booking hall opewned at Parliament.
