Yes indeed, money for old rope.
Problem is, Australia almost has the land mass of the
US with only 19 mil pop, USA .....240 mil plus.?
If it was left to the "private" sector to open up Oz,
it would not have happened, mines excepted.
Imagine Australia today with communications for example
if it was not for the Government, read ... tax payers,
owned PMG/Telecom.
Same for Railways, BUT many lines should have never
been built, they were pure political opportunism.
We have the most fractured, parochial, mind numbing
rail system in the World, I can not see how the private
operators alone, are going to fix this, without big
bucks from the tax payers, never mind a stich-a-deal
from a former Federal Gov that created another national
rail organisation and threw millions of dollars at it.
