Rent A Wreck

G'day,

tonight's spark home gave new meaning to the term 'rent a reck'.

It arrived at Spencer St about 4 late, endured a short delay at West
Richmond while the driver checked something out, then when loading a
wheelchair passenger at Collingwood, the driver explained "we might get
you there or we might not - it's got bits falling off, most stuff cut
out". We arrive at Clifton Hill with the usual "Change for Epping"
announcement, plus an apology for the late running, due to "waiting at
Flinders St for fitters who never showed up to fix the train. It's go
so many things wrong with it you wouldn't believe!"

When alighting at Rosanna, I asked where the problems were. The answer:
Wheel Flats
Defective airconditioning
Many temporary windows in doors
Airbrake only
Erratic under power - power surging causing wheelslips

At least both pantos were up, and all traction motors were powering.

I suggested a dose of privatisation may be needed - he agreed. I wished
him well and hope he made it to Hurstbridge!

Cheers,
Craig.
