DVA Noise & Feedback From CityRail

Hi All,

I sent some feedback via the email on the CityRail web page and actually got
a phone call back from somebody quite senior. Well done CityRail. The basis
of my feedback was the volume of DVA, in residential areas, and
Campbelltown. It was interesting that he said that he had a report from the
EPA (Enviromental Protection Agency), commissioned by CityRail to look at
the attention grabbing "ding dong" before each announcement, (this was our
main complaint as no other noise from East Hills station, including the
actual voiced DVA announcements themselves worry us), this report stated
that it was a problem in residential areas, that it was aways above the
normal background noise levels but they had no suggestions on what to do
about it and that CItyRail would have to work out their own solution.

He said that he would have the report actioned by the engineering groups and
stated, "there is nothing that you can't do with software" and thanked me
for my feedback which confirmed that they have a problem but they would work
towards a solution.

Well! Positive feedback works via the web page as I have never been called
back from a complaint after calling 131500. CityRail are interested in
talking to its customers and spending time with them, (it was a 25 min
call). I am quite impressed at the moment.
