Because that's the way it's always been done. :)

Seriously, it's just a hangover from when the locomotive hauled Sydney
trains HAD to use platform 1, and nobody has since thought to change it.

Is the sg fuel point actually used or are they still using a road tanker?
It shouldn't be too hard to put fuel outlets between tracks 2 and 2A.

I wonder if it might even be worth removing track 2A altogether. Is there
any real need for two tracks between platforms 2 and 3?
