I find the new seats too hard. The old first class seats were more comfortable, but had
no side head rests. I have had the displeasure of travelling backwards in a non-reclining
economy seat across the table from a screaming kid to Brisbane overnight. I found a first
class sitter to Brisbane recently to be not much better. The daynighters (as used on the
Griffith and Broken Hill services) are 100 times more comfortable to sit in. With a bit
of work, these cars could easily be re-instated. I would suggest, although there would be
considerable opposition, the introduction of deluxe class XPT sitters with the seats from
the daynighters.
