Yes, the story is true; the border was *supposed* to be along the 141 deg.
meridian, but in actual fact, it was surveyed to the west of this line.

There is another interesting story with regards to the NSW/VIC border.
When a body was found on the southern bank of the Murray River, there
was an arguement between Vic and NSW as to who would conduct the murder
investigation.
