A friend ask me to put this message up.

He would like to know what happen the Melbourne Limited Carriages or The
Southern Cross Express as it was know later.

For those who are lost. The Melbourne Limited was the first private own
passenger train to operate on government tracks in Victoria. It was as
owner claimed to be Victoria answer to the Orient Express and was hauled by
R766 in Brunswick Green but they ran into trouble (financially) and the
carriages were sold. The loco R766 end up at Steamrail and now painted
in Maroon colours.

The carriages formed a new train called The Southern Cross Express
(standard gauge) operated between Melbourne & Sydney diesel hauled,
like wise it also ran in to financial trouble. The carriages sat for a
long time in a siding at Albion and the they disappeared. Where did these
Carriage end up and who owns them ???
