4855 was running scrap steel transfer trains between Broadmeadow and
Comsteel's Warratah plant.
When I arrived back in Maitland at about 16.00, a trio of light engines
were disappearing towards Singleton. When I was stopped at Murrurundi at
18.00, what I thought was en empty coal train ran through on the other
side of the valley. As I passed through Willow Tree at 18.45, the level
crossing lights started so I pulled over and 8032-8038-8050 arrived light
engine. I assume these were the locos I'd seen at Maitland. Do 80s
regularly run up that way? I've only ever seen 82s on the Gunnedah coal
trains and 81s and/or 48s on everything else.
Cheers
David
