NR solo = 900 tonnes
NR + NR = 1800 tonnes
NR + BL =1950 tonnes

The latest mods certainly did help. NRs in general pull better than any
3000 hp loco on most grades however there were some 'software problems'
that are being fixed.

The Adelaide hills problem is not what can they pull up a hill but what can
they hold stationary on a steep downgrade. NSWSRA allowed trains with 26L
brake equipment or better to stand with the train brake applied, apparently
AN insists that the loco alone must be able to hold the load.

I understand that the addition of an extra brake cylinder on each bogie is
being considered.
