Then I went and looked in my bookshelf.
I have found a few books which you may be able to get hold of.
One is called "Road Through the Wilderness" by David Bourke, pub 1991 by
NSW University Press. This has one photo and a brief article,
presumably due to Henry Deane building the Wolgan Valley line as well as
the Trans Australia line (which is what the book is about).
Black Smoke, Blue Mountains has a few photos of Shays in genreal, and a
couple specifically on the Wolgan Valley line.
Another book, The Wolgan Valley Railway - Its Construction contains many
photos. This book incorporates a paper read to the Sydney University
Engineering Society by Deane himself in 1910. The book was published
by, and is possibly available from, the ARHS NSW division.
Both of the latter two books were purchased from the bookshop at Zig Zig
Railway within the last 12 months.

I hope this is of use to you.

Cheers,

Peter Homann.
